Description Coin, Australian one crown, sterling silver, on the obverse featuring the profile of George VI and in Latin around the perimeter "GEORGIUS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX : F : D : IND : IMP", and on the reverse a crown at the center, the words "COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA/ ONE CROWN" around the perimeter and "1937" towards the center.
History This coin was carried by Staff Sergeant Gerald L. Endl during his service in New Guinea during World War II. Endl was born in Fort Atkinson and enlisted in the United States Army on 16 April 1941 while living in Janesville. Endl was killed near Anamo, New Guinea, on 11 July 1944. He received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic actions on that day.
