History Stephen Piotrowski was born in Amherst, Wisconsin, and enlisted in the United States Army June 3, 1968. He served in Vietnam from February 1969 to February 1970 with C Company, 3rd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry, 173rd Airborne in II Corps (BoaLoc, Phan Thiet, Bong Son, An Loa) as part of the II Corps reaction force.

Piotrowski left the Army February 23, 1970 with the rank of Sergeant E5. After his service he was active with numerous veterans groups including the Vietnam Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Vietnam Veterans Against the War, and Veterans for Peace. Piotrowski has also worked as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Person and County Veterans Service Officer and assisted with the development of the Highground Memorial.
