Description Spear, bamboo shaft with sharpened and barbed point. Point is inserted in the end of the shaft and affixed with reed string. Shaft is marked with an alternating zig-zag and ring pattern.
History Ortner J. Stratman of Dodgeville, Wisconsin was drafted into the United States Army on October 19, 1943. After basic training he requested a transfer to the United States Navy so he was honorably discharged from the Army on December 3, 1943. He then enlisted in the Navy where he served from February 29, 1944 until January 15, 1946.

While in the Army Stratman was a private in Company C, 57th Medical Training Battalion, 11th Medical Training Regiment, Medical Replacement Training Center. Lieutenant Stratman then served as a decoder in the Navy with the Seventh Fleet in the South Pacific primarily in New Guinea and later the Philippines.

While in New Guinea Stratman and a buddy would go to native village during their free time and trade items for souvenirs.
