Memoir written by Robert M. Crump, a Lake Mills, Wisconsin, resident who was given a field commission in the Army while in the Philippines after the Japanese invaded during World War II. The memoir provides information about Crump's early life, his education, being assigned to a geological team in the Philippines, and his experiences as part of the guerrilla resistance to the Japanese during the war. The memoir also includes some original currency from the Philippines and photocopies of photographs, with descriptive captions, from his service and return to the United States.
