|Description||Photographs pertaining to the World War II service of Norris Tibbetts of Vermont, who served with the 87th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division also known as the "ski troops." Amongst this collection are posed photographs of individual soldiers and groups; some of which are captioned. Soldiers so identified include: Will Borrow, Ed Page, Private Dick, DeGrace, Ziegler, Silvers, Erhardt, Escola, Gage, Tompkins, Thurston, Karl, Coffin, Hall, Riley, and Tibbetts. Many photographs depict soldiers in skiing outfits on patrol, performing drills, and camping out. Some of the photographs were taken at Homestake Peak (Colorado), Kiska and Adak Harbors (Aleutian Islands), and in the Philippines. There are also photographs of Filipino children posed by military vehicles. Of note is a photograph of a soldier posing with a Japanese field gun in a fixed position with camouflaged netting behind it. Another interesting photograph is of four soldiers showing off their tattoos. Another is a photograph of a group of soldiers inside a barracks sweeping a huge puddle of water.|
