|Description||World War I letter of discharge and service certificate of Robert Orstead Nicoll Jr. of Kenosha, Wisconsin, a private in the Marine Corps who was stationed at Parris Island (South Carolina), Charleston (South Carolina), and the Dominican Republic. The black and white certificate is graphically appealing and features ornate typescript and a pen and ink drawing of Lady Liberty holding the Marine Corps flag in one hand and a sword in the other. Behind her is a pillar and at her feet in the background are soldiers marching in formation. There is also a letter about a bonus payment apparently issued by the Wisconsin Service Recognition Board and sent to Nicoll.|
